Expect a target average of $85,000 a year and a $1300 weekly guarantee. This substantial pay package includes compensation for stops, unscheduled layovers, delays, dispatch, drop and hook, and vacation. The job also requires the operation of tractor/trailers (automatic Volvo, international or freightliner; diesel/natural gas) and frequent interaction with customers, sales drivers, and dispatch teams. A significant amount of walking and lifting over the head is involved, but the rewards are certainly worth the effort. Start times vary by route and scheduled dispatch and the work hours could reach the legal limits allowed by the FMCSA with overnight, weekend and/or holiday work included.
