Truck with Jed Logistics
The position involves drivers hauling primarily bananas, pineapples or plantains. They will be responsible for pulling loads from the drop yard located near the port, sometimes making direct pickups from the port. Drivers are expected to haul a 40' container on a chassis to various customer locations. The hiring area is around Wilmington, DE, and it involves multiple lanes to various locations. On average, a week involves 1,700 miles with an average weekly pay of $1596. Drivers typically start between 5pm and Midnight working for six days including weekends. With the exception of the Brooklyn, NY lane, drivers can expect to return home after every dispatch. The equipment used for the job includes 40' containers and chassis along with 2023 Kenworth T680 or 2024 Freightliner Cascadia Automatic. This freight is primarily drop and hook with a few exceptions, and drivers must be comfortable with slip seating. The truck speed is 65, both pedal and cruise.
